DorothyBartholomew, whose works (especially woodcuts) are just now emerging posthumously, studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and in Europe. She lived most of her life in New Hampshire, exhibiting widely and receiving numerous awards, and opened the first art gallery in Newport. Her work emphasized New Enland and religious themes and is represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and Pennsylvania Academy of Art.
