Katz Katz, A. Raymond ("Sandor") (1895-1974; Chicago, IL). "The Mishna": Six original woodcuts, based on the six principal Orders of "The Mishna" as compiled by Rabbi Judah Ha-Nasi at the end of the Second Century, titled "Seeds" (ZERAIM), "Festivals" (M0'ED), "Women" (NOSHIM), "Damages" (NEZIKIM), "Holy Objects" (KODASHIM), and "Purity" (TOHOROT). Each woodcut has a 13" x 10" image on heavy paper (18¼" x 11¾") and is titled, numbered ("62/100") and signed in pencil across the bottom. Published by Arthur Rothman Fine Arts, N.Y.C., in 1964. McDougall Peter McDougall Glass Studio: Millefiori "Star of David" paperweight. A white six-pointed star rests on a cobalt blue ground and is bordered by a garland of pink millefiori canes. "PMcD" signature cane. Diameter: 2". SOLD. (#N031)

Singer/Moskowitz: "Reaches of Heaven". Two-volume limited edition folio of "Reaches of Heaven: A Story of Baal Shem Tov" by the 1978 Nobelist Isaac Bashevis Singer (1904-1991), printed on large (18 x 12"/page) Arches paper with 24 original pencil-signed and numbered etchings by Ira Moskowitz (1912-2001). This is Number 170 of 250 copies, each containing a suite of 24 etchings. The text was hand set in 18 point Bembo and printed in 1980 by letterpress at The Stinehour Press, Lunenburg, Vermont. The etchings were pulled at the Sorini Studios in New York. This copy was signed by both the author and artist on the back page. A real treasure! $1,300. (#D010a)
Steinhardt Steinhardt, Jakob (1887-1968; Israeli). "Grief": pen & ink with watercolor, dated ("1960") LL and initialed LR (5¾" x 4"); framed and matted. SOLD. (#97DA)
Torah pointer, silver (Yad). Beautiful old Russian Yad inscribed in Hebrew along the arm: "Simcha ben Miriam v'ito Tova bat Esther", indicating that this pointer was probably once donated to a synogogue by both Simcha the son of Miriam and Esther's daughter Tova. A silver chain is attached to the handle, which is decorated with a raised leaf design. Hallmarks along the upper arm sequentially indicate: St. George (Moscow); "84" silver fineness; the assayer's mark, dated 1865; the maker's Cyrillic initials (3!); and an oval-enclosed double-headed eagle, indicating the maker was a purveyor to the czar. Length is 12½" (32 cm). SOLD. (#E124)

Whitefriars 1978: "Star of David" millefiori paperweight. Five rows of tightly packed complex canes surround an intricate blue and white Star of David. This paperweight was made in a limited edition of 1000 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Israel. Five and one faceting with the traditional signature (Whitefriars monk)/date cane.
