Born in Belle Plain, Iowa, Moran studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the Art Students league in NYC. In 1932, he signed an exclusive contract with Brown and Bigelow to produce pin-up art, moved to Hollywood in the 1940s, and eventually became one of America's best known pin-up artists. His works are characterized by dramatic lighting and have a greater variety that those of any other major contributor to the field.
