Large carved soapstone censer. Unusual chocolate brown soapstone censer, decorated on all sides and top with playful foo dogs. The handles depict baku heads and the tripod feet rest on an attached soapstone base. Naturally dark brown soapstone pieces are hard to find, especially in such good condition. Pair of carved soapstone vases with lids. This most unusual pair of vases has complimentary intricately carved flowers, leaves and stems covering their fronts and a bit simpler carved decoration on their backs. One of the lids had a floral decoration and the other is decorated with a carved bird. The colors on both vases and lids are shades of rust, beige and black. Each vase is ~ 6¾" in height and is attached to a carved base, which is 1½" in height. The height of each piece, with the lids in place is ~11¼". Their condition is very good, with only one barely visible small area on the edge (mainly underside) of one of the lids. $695/pr. (#KR100A/B) |

Carved soapstone double vase. Wonderfully carved Chinese soapstone double vase in a striking natural coloration (black and various shades of deep rust). These dark rich colors are hard to find in these older pieces and enhance the depiction of birds and flowers. The pictures indicate the details and fine condition of this attractive late 19th (or early 20th) century stone carving. Carved soapstone plaque and base. An unusual vintage soapstone plaque that is carved in high relief from a single piece of soapstone and depicts trees, leaves, berries and an animal. The plaque is rather flat (~¾ inches in thickness) and fits into a brown soapstone base. Condition is excellent with only a minor (barely visible) chip on a leaf. The back of the plaque has a small hole in it that looks like it was intentionally done (for some unknown reason). Total height of plaque in base is 9¼" and the width is 5½". $325. (#KR021) |

Carved soapstone vase. Antique Chinese soapstone vase with intricately carved leaves and berries with a few animals hidden amongst them. The vase, which is attached to a brown soapstone base, is made of a naturally mottled soapstone and has a lovely blend of colors (brown, beige, rust and black). Condition is very good, however the tips of a few leaves have been chipped. This high quality carved vase is unusual both in color and the type of carving on it. Height: 8½". $295. (#KR020) |

Carved soapstone candlestick. Most unusual vintage carved soapstone candlestick that depicts a robed person entwined with flowers(?). Interesting colored veins in shades of beige, brown and rust; has a decorative attached brown soapstone base. The base shows some light reflections (and not damage)!
