"B. 1934 in Hirosaki, Aomori prefecture. Attended Musashino College of Fine Arts but left because there was no instruction in printmaking. Studied mokuhan independently with Amano Kunihiro. Exhibited with Nihon Hanga Kyokai from 1957 and Kokugakai from 1958. Member of Nihon Hanga Kyokai from 1961. Represented in international competitions in Tokyo in 1957, 1964, Grenchen 1958, Krakow 1968, Sao Paulo, and elsewhere. At one time all of his prints were sold by S. Watanabe Color Print Company. Before 1972, Indian reds and ochres predominated in imaginative abstracted landscapes; after 1971 green was added as well." --'Guide to Modern Japanese Prints: 1900-1975' by H. Merritt and N. Yamada
