John Edmund Mace was an early 20th C. watercolorist whose specialties included British cathedrals and landscapes. Melrose Abbey, arguably the finest of Scotland's four great Border Abbeys, is a magnificent ruin on a grand scale in Melrose, Roxburghshire. It is thought to be the burial place of Robert the Bruce's heart, marked with a commemorative stone plaque within the grounds.
