William (Bill) Haskell Coffin, he was born in Charleston SC in 1878 and died in St. Petersburg FL in 1941, but spent most of his career in NYC. He initially studied at the Corcoran School of Art and later in Paris with Laurens. His work (genre, portraits, streets, harbors, ships) generally projects a quiet charm and has long enjoyed appreciative audiences.
